Kimberly Lane Erwin, M.A.

Kimberly Lane Erwin has toured Europe, the United Kingdom, Egypt and the United States, singing for royalty, presidents and heads of state.

She was awarded BEST FEMALE SINGER at the International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival in Buxton, England for her performance as Josephine in H.M.S. Pinafore. Other signature G & S roles are Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance, Yum-Yum in The Mikado, Gianetta in The Gondoliers, and Aline in the Houston Premier of The Sorcerer. Her awards include prizes in the district and regional finals of the Metropolitan Opera Auditions.

Kimberly has performed in over fifty Houston Grand Opera productions with favorite roles in Parsifal, Der Rosenkavalier, Les Dialogues Des Carmelites, Turandot, My Fair Lady, Showboat (opening the new Cairo Opera House, Egypt), and the World Premiers of Resurrection, Cold Sassy Tree, and Harvey Milk. Noted engagements include Lincoln Center Festival, Scotland's Edinburgh Festival (with HGO's Four Saints in Three Acts), Carnegie Hall, St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, and Opera Theatre of St. Louis where her roles include Ingrid in the American Premier of Fennimore and Gerda. While in St. Louis she also sang Gretel in Hansel and Gretel, and Papagena in The Magic Flute. As a member of the American Guild of Musical Artists, Kimberly served Houston Grand Opera as Union Delegate for eight years and represented Texas and Oklahoma on the National Board of Governors.

Equally at home in musical theater, Kimberly opened the Wortham Center's Brown Theater in the 1987 Theatre Under the Stars production of Follies as Young Heidi, a role she reprised in 1995 to excellent reviews, both in Houston and at Seattle's Fifth Avenue Theatre. She stole the show as Baroness Elsa Schraeder in The Sound of Music and has been featured in Evita, Kismet, Once Upon a Mattress, Carousel, Annie Get Your Gun, Babes In Arms and No No Nanette.

Kimberly attended St. Louis Conservatory of Music and holds a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance and a Master of Arts in Music. She has appeared in TIME and OPERA NEWS magazines, and in the book "An American Voice: Houston Grand Opera Celebrates Twenty-Five World Premiers". Recordings on compact disc include the World Premiers of Resurrection and Cold Sassy Tree with Houston Grand Opera, and a live recording, complete with dialogue, of her command performance as Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance with the Gilbert & Sullivan Society of Houston.
